Fortuna Is Getting A Community Pool!

The ERV Community Center Foundation is building a community aquatic facility in Fortuna, with construction funded by the McLean Foundation. The project fills a critical gap in the Eel River Valley, where there is currently no community pool available.

THE VISION

The community pool is envisioned as a facility serving all ages and abilities.

Programming may include:

FACILITY DESIGN

The proposed aquatic center will be housed in a natatorium — a building that includes a swimming pool.

Design features under consideration include:

  • The ability to open the roof and sides
  • Year-round use of the facility

The site is located between the Gene Lucas Community Center and the Humboldt Senior Resource Center on the McLean Campus.

PROJECT STATUS

  • ERV is working with a local engineering firm on a design.
  • A pre-application for permits with the City of Fortuna has been submitted.
  • Discussions are underway about having the building constructed by a local contractor.

Once the design is finalized, permits are acquired, and a specific budget is established, the project can move forward.

The facility is planned for the McLean Campus in Fortuna, between the Gene Lucas Community Center and the Humboldt Senior Resource Center.

Due to site and foundation requirements, the pool will be limited to five feet deep.
